STUDENT EXPERIENCE

Voice development is at the core of everything we do. It sits at the intersection of personal and professional growth, while also supporting everyday mental well-being. To us, it’s an evolution of professional branding—centered on expressive writing as a way to clearly communicate who you are, what you do, and how you want to be remembered.

Your voice shapes your reputation. That’s why LinkedIn is such a powerful platform for storytelling—where your ideas, perspectives, and experiences can build credibility over time. Through consistent engagement, like posts and thoughtful comments, you begin to establish trust and form meaningful connections with diverse leaders and professionals—key steps in finding your community.

We teach a civil and authentic approach that empowers students to communicate in their own words and show up as themselves. By the end of our monthly bootcamps, students walk away with a deeper understanding of why their voice matters—and how to use it to build genuine, one-on-one relationships that last, both in the workplace and beyond.

Bootcamp Objective

Becoming a thoughtful presence on LinkedIn (outside of the algorithm) can be a game changer in work and life. We help students from all backgrounds see LinkedIn as a safe space to share their perspectives, and to connect with professionals on a human level. Starting early with voice development strengthens mental health, people skills, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness—all key drivers of long-term career success.

Student Interest

To identify interest for our bootcamp, we survey using the following questions and share the results with schools and districts.

  • Have you heard of LinkedIn?
  • Did you know that Mark Cuban, Daymond John, Barbara Corcoran, and Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank are all ‘top voices’ on LinkedIn?
  • Do you think that ‘having a voice’ matters?
  • How important do you think ‘communication skills’ is to becoming an influencer?
  • How important do you think ‘networking’ is to student and career success?
  • How important do you think ‘having connections’ is to your future?
  • Would you be interested in learning about ‘professional branding’ to help you with all of the above sooner rather than later?

Bootcamp Curriculum

We offer an on-demand, workshop learning experience designed to help students get started on LinkedIn with confidence. Students begin by introducing themselves through a custom avatar. From there, the bootcamp’s three sequential modules—LinkedIn I → LinkedIn II → LinkedIn III—guide students through deep reflection and self-expression, building on each module to ensure a clear, step-by-step learning path.

Module 1 - 90 Minutes

Beyond the BootcampFinding Your Tribe

Even after students complete the bootcamp, the impact continues. Each participant receives a 12-month strategic and tactical content planner to help them keep sharing their voice on LinkedIn, while learning from diverse professionals and leaders. Over time, students who consistently apply the habits and strategies taught in the program can grow their LinkedIn presence, not just to be seen, but to find a supportive community and tribe, something many young adults lack yet desperately need for career guidance, networking, and work-life opportunities:

  • Year 1: Develop the habit of intentional posting and engagement, growing to ~100 meaningful connections
  • Year 2: Expand reach and influence through consistent interaction, reaching ~1,000 meaningful connections
  • Year 3: Establish a strong personal and professional network, building ~10,000 meaningful connections and a trusted community for mentorship, advice, and opportunity

This long-term approach ensures that students don’t just gain a voice—they gain a platform, a network, and a tribe to support their career and personal growth.

THE CREATOR

Katiya Xiong, founder of the DEEP Coalition, created this program to help young adults connect with others at the deepest human level—from peers to senior leaders and executives. A social leader, artist, speaker, author, and mother of two, she is grounded in the belief that people are far more than their résumés or job titles.

Driven to understand what true social leadership looks like, Katiya spent three years studying the online behavior of more than 1,000 CEOs, analyzing over 100 DEI reports, and conducting 100 one-on-one interviews with employees from diverse backgrounds. These insights—along with pivotal moments in her own life—shaped her approach to communication, connection, and community-building.

Today, through DEEP Coalition, she leads by example—demonstrating how creative expression and intentional voice development can transform the way people show up and connect. Her work in expressive writing continues to resonate with leaders across industries, earning recognition and support for its ability to humanize leadership and build meaningful relationships.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

(5/5)

Khang L.

Student, University of Minnesota

It was a lovely experience talking to Katiya Xiong during those three class sessions and I'm so glad we could talk 1-on-1! The experience was invaluable and I strongly advocate for anyone here who is scared of having a voice and wants to give a push to a student towards their life in exploring themselves on how to live a life full of expression and creativity to just do it. The self-awareness I developed and obstacles I originally had on LinkedIn have been shifted into a fun game in exploring myself, creating a new approach for me to express myself on LinkedIn that I couldn't be happier with. This course changed my professional viewpoint on LinkedIn and shifted my pre-existing beliefs that I couldn't have a voice in the face of not being enough. If that sounds interesting, I strongly recommend anyone to reach out.

Katiya Xiong is a thoughtful leader who was very warm, dedicated, and precise during the 3-day virtual bootcamp I attended. She led by example by showing us how she utilizes the Linkedin platform for the benefit of many, which was inspiring to see as Linkedin can be an intimidating space. Her enthusiasm to show up as an instructor with various infographics and avatars made the classes engaging as well. The bootcamp ultimately helped me honor my voice and develop the confidence I needed to post my first post on Linkedin. I was also able to meet peers from across the world, which helped me recognize global perspectives possible for Linkedin. I recommend joining this bootcamp because each day is packed with extremely helpful information and you never know who you might meet. Each class leaves you a different person with a deeper understanding of your voice’s unique power. Katiya goes through the lessons with ease and swiftness, so she leaves plenty of time after class and in between to ask her any questions that students may have. Since she makes herself openly available for students, she helps you to immediately apply the tools and skills you gain from her class. If you want to create meaningful connections through Linkedin and add purpose to your professional voice, join Katiya’s bootcamp today!

Katiya Xiong is a prompt, thoughtful, and informative teacher. Although our time together was short, I learned lessons from Katiya, that I will surely use throughout the rest of my academic and professional career. Katiya displayed great enthusiasm in her lessons which really helped me understand the concepts she described. She was also empathetic and understanding when personal matters interfered with her lessons, which highlights her sense of compassion for her students. Overall, I have great confidence that anyone would be fortunate to have Katiya as a mentor and that they will be left with profound insight.

Katiya Xiong has played such an immense role in helping me navigate these beginning steps of mine into the professional world. Her work does not discriminate by age nor status and includes everyone and anyone who willing to learn, to take time out of their schedule to gain these insightful lessons of hers. Using her experience in HR, she teaches us about ways to strategically network and connect with the masses on LinkedIn while still building a voice as an individual whether it be professional or personally. I truly appreciate Katiya for the opportunity that she has provided me; most organizations overlook high school students and direct their focus towards undergrad and grad students but Katiya did not, she went out of her way to establish a connection, a relationship, and truly gives her best to every single one of her students. Katiya truly is a mentor to all, whoever she is with, will grow in tremendous ways.
